Following the building success of the annual Albany Pride Festivals from 2016 – 2023, we are planning another Pride Festival, between 22 February – 4 March 2024, across various venues in Albany.

The festival places focus on LGBTIQA+ visibility and inclusion, provides opportunity for Albany Pride to showcase the liveability of the Great Southern region, highlights opportunities for the whole community to come together, celebrating our diversity and to celebrate the uniquely appealing nature of the Great Southern region as a holiday destination or home.

The festival schedule has been designed to underscore the work we do to achieve Albany Pride’s objectives, which are:

  • Increase visibility and acceptance of the Pride Community in Albany;
  • Provide a wide range of peer support, resources, events and activities which promote the mental health, health and wellbeing of the Pride community;
  • Provide advocacy and leadership aimed at reducing disadvantage and discrimination among the Pride community;
  • Help Albany community become more inclusive of its LGBTIQA+ population by raising awareness and publicly celebrating our Pride community;
  • Support, promote and build awareness of local physical health, mental heath and other relevant support services and organisations available for LGBTIQA+ people.
  • Decrease isolation and raise awareness of issues affecting the Pride community;
  • Make Albany more attractive to LGBTIQA+ locals and tourists, who are likely to decide where to live and travel by promoting Albany as a safe and inclusive destination.
  • Encourage, promote and empower the Pride Community to actively participate within the Association, partner organisations and the community.
  • To raise awareness of and support ways to eliminate disparities in health outcomes of LGBTIQA+ people and communities including differences  that  occur by  sexual  and/or  gender orientation, identity  and/or presentation,  gender, race/ethnicity, education  or income,  disability, nationality, geographic  location,  and/or age.

We are seeking partners to support the conference, for which we have successfully funded a greatly increased marketing campaign for 2024 across socials, print and radio media with influential outlets such as So Perth and Out in Perth, as well as a broad range of local advertising outlets.

We are currently working with the Albany Visitor Centre, investigating options for increased offerings by packaging Festival tickets with local accommodation houses, tour providers, venues, bars, restaurants, and tour operators.
