Albany/Kinjarling is located in the Great Southern region of Western Australia, a 4½ hour car journey south of Perth/Boorloo. Albany/Kinjarling is located in the Minang country of the Noongar nation.

Situated on the south coast, Albany/Kinjarling and the surrounding regions boast areas of immense natural beauty, with some of the country’s best beaches and national parks – and also some very impressive wineries and distilleries!

Albany is famed for its history, being Western Australia’s oldest colonial settlement, being home to WA’s first farm and oldest surviving settlement, and for its links to the ANZACs as the final departure point for the first ANZAC troops.

The Menang Noongar people have occupied the South West region for more than 50, 000 years, and Albany was home to the Menang Noongar people during the summer season. Archaeological evidence of the Noongar people in the region dates back as far as 25, 000 years ago, with the Oyster Harbour Fish Traps alone being 7,500 years old.

Tourism is important to the region’s economy, and Albany Pride delight in showing our visitors what the region has to offer – not just as a holiday destination, but as a potential place to live! Albany/Kinjarling’s local LGBTQIA+ community is thriving,
